Mountain Goat Escape 1983

goat_product_black01

This 1983 bike is the 5th Mountain Goat Escape ever made. When I got it there were no decals and it actually took me a few years to figure out what it was, a buddy finally figured it out for me. I talked to the builder of these frames and he verified it with the serial number and gave me a good solid history of this bike.

The rarest part on this bike is the curved Bontrager fork with roller cam brake bosses. It also came with all the parts you see including the Cook cranks, IRD brake, Bullmoose bars, Magura levers, Phil Wood hubs and upgraded 1987 Shimano XT indexing components. The frame is all un-filed fillet brazing. It really takes a steady hand and a lot of experience to lay down brass so smooth that you don’t need to file it.
