Ritchey Road Frame 1987

I bought this from a close friend who worked for Tom for many, many years. We’re the same size, so I was thrilled to become its second proud owner. Tom’s fillet brazing is second-to-none. It was originally equipped with Shimano Dura Ace 7401 7-speed components, but I am going to re-assemble it with an eclectic mix of Ritchey and Campy parts from the early 90s, including tubular wheels and toe clip pedals. It rides as beautifully as it looks, plus riding a Ritchey which was actually built by Tom (as all fillet brazed Ritchey frames were) is a rare and pleasurable experience. Those in the know think you’re in some kind of secret fraternity if you own and ride a Tom-built Ritchey.

This is the personal bike of Chris Kostman.
